87 in the 90 days to 21 Oct 2026, and 280 in the 12 months to the same date: planning applications filed with Cambridge City Council that match our rules for bricklayers & building contractors at high or medium confidence. Refused and withdrawn applications are not counted, and nothing is estimated.
In the last 12 months: single-storey extension (127), extension (45), two-storey or first-floor extension (41) and outbuilding or annexe or detached garage (28). Single-storey shells start 0–3 months after consent; two-storey 0–4.

Cambridge City Council decided 92.1% of its applications within the statutory time limit in 2025, and granted 92.9% of its "other" decisions, the government category that holds householder applications (696 of 749, MHCLG PS2 figures). The target for a householder application is eight weeks, so a letter sent the week it is filed lands well before the decision.
