PlanWatch was created after we experienced first-hand how difficult it is to stay informed about local planning applications. Planning data is public, but it’s scattered across hundreds of council websites, buried in confusing portals, and updated sporadically.
So we built PlanWatch. It checks connected council planning sources, extracts the data that matters, and gives you a searchable view. Paid monitoring adds email alerts, sent within hours, for new applications near your monitored postcodes.

The UK Government’s Planning Data platform (planning.data.gov.uk), individual council planning portals and public statutory registers. All of it is public. We make it easy to find and to follow.
How quickly will I be notified?
Search and saving a postcode are free. Starter, Pro and Business are paid plans: we check the council register for your area every 2 hours through the day (overnight, in our nightly run) and email you within hours of a new application inside your area appearing on it.
Can I monitor multiple postcodes?
Starter monitors 1 postcode, Pro monitors 5, and Business is unlimited: any number of postcodes, whole councils or cities, plus keyword rules so you only hear about the applications that mean work for you. All paid plans send email alerts within hours; free users can search and save a postcode.
What radius do you monitor?
Starter and Pro watch a circle around a postcode: 250m, 500m, 1km or 2km, defaulting to 500m so the first results are your immediate streets. Business has no radius. It watches whole councils and postcode districts, with keyword rules, and you set those up at checkout.
Can I object through PlanWatch?
We don’t send objections for you. Every result links to the council’s own page for the application, and the letter builder drafts a formal objection that cites the real application, for you to review and send to your council. £9.99 a letter, or free on Pro and Business.
Do you cover all of the UK?
We read 376 council registers today. England has the strongest coverage, with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland expanding as more portals are onboarded.
Is my data safe?
We explain the data we collect and the service providers we use in our privacy policy. You can request access or deletion at any time.
Is it really free?
Searching is completely free. Paid tracking is optional and starts with a 7-day free trial, then sends alerts for the postcode and distance you choose. We don’t sell your data.
