Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 June 2025
These terms govern your use of PlanWatch (planwatch.co.uk). By using our service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. We've kept these straightforward — no legalese for the sake of it.
1. The Service
PlanWatch is a UK planning application search and monitoring service. We aggregate publicly available planning application data and make it searchable by postcode. Free users can search and save an account/postcode; paid plans can send instant email alerts for monitored postcodes.
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do our best to keep data accurate and up-to-date, but we cannot guarantee completeness or real-time accuracy.
2. Data Accuracy
Important: Planning data shown on PlanWatch comes from public sources including planning.data.gov.uk and council planning portals. We do our best to present it accurately, but:
- Data may be delayed, incomplete, or contain errors from the source
- We are not the official source — always verify with your local council
- Planning decisions and statuses can change without notice
- We do not provide legal, planning, or property advice
3. Your Account
Searching is free and requires no account. If you create an account or save a postcode:
- You must provide a valid email address
- You are responsible for keeping your email up to date if you use paid alert delivery
- You can manage paid alert emails using the unsubscribe link or your account settings
- You can request full deletion of your data at any time
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the site
- Use the service to send spam or unsolicited communications
- Attempt to access systems or data you're not authorised to access
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Resell or redistribute our data without permission
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.
5. Free & Paid Plans
PlanWatch offers a free postcode search and saved postcode account; free accounts do not include ongoing email alerts. Starter provides one monitored postcode with paid instant alerts; Pro provides five monitored postcodes with paid instant alerts; Business provides the monitored-postcode, instant-alert, API, export, and alert-rule capabilities shown on the pricing page.
We reserve the right to change pricing, features, or plan structures with reasonable notice. If you're on a paid plan and we make changes that materially reduce what you've paid for, you'll be entitled to a refund for the remaining period.
6. Intellectual Property
The PlanWatch name, logo, website design, and original content are owned by PlanWatch. Planning application data is sourced from public records and is not our intellectual property.
You may share individual planning application details for personal, non-commercial purposes. Bulk reproduction or redistribution of our content or data requires written permission.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- PlanWatch is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any decisions you make based on data shown on our site
- We are not liable for missed alerts, delayed notifications, or data inaccuracies
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify active subscribers by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
