Planning permission detached garage into air b&b??

Would i need planning permission to change old detached garage into an air b&b ? No change to size of unit width or length wise?

I think it depends a bit on where you are in the UK, as the rules differ by council and nation. Which local council area is the property in?

As a general rule, because it’s a detached garage becoming a self-contained Airbnb/holiday let, you 'should' check with the council before starting. Even without increasing the size, the issue is the change of use, not just the building work. However, i know people that have just gone ahead and done it without any negative outcome. But i suppose if reported by an unhappy neighbour, thats when it becomes more of a problem.
